A Great, Great Beer Wall
In Redding we often find ourselves looking for stuff to do or perhaps looking for that really neat “thing” we did in Bend or San Francisco. Redding at times seems behind from the places we all love to vacation or visit. While Redding is nestled up here in our own world surrounded by mountains and distanced with a very long stretch of highway, but innovation and progress are coming. A few nights ago Carrie and stopped at Mary’s Pizza Shack and checked out the new Beer Wall. Yeah, I know. A BEER WALL! I have to say it is very cool to see something that is more easily pictured in Bend or Sacramento right here in Redding. This wall is amazing! Firstly it had 18 taps or various beers ranging from stout to lager and even cider. It is more or less self-serve you buy a card and plug it into the slot and pour your desired amount. Each tap has an Ipad attached to it and by touching the screen you can read about the beer and its tasting notes. Once you start pouring there is Ounce counter so you now know how much you’re pouring, it also keeps track of how much you’ve had, which can be good and bad depending on your point of view. Additionally, the beer on tap has a per ounce price so you know how much you’re paying. What I liked about it is that we were able to try a wide variety of beers without getting stuck buying a whole pint of something you dread finishing. The combination of technology, creativity, and fun makes Mary’s Pizza Shack’s Beer wall an awesome addition to Redding’s downtown. It is experiences like this that mark the beginning of what the amazing business owner’s and citizens of Redding are installing to place Redding on the map.
