World-Class Fitness in a 100 Words

  • Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat. Practice and train major lifts: Deadlift, clean, squat, presses, C&J, and snatch. Similarly, master the basics of gymnastics: pull-ups, dips, rope climb, push-ups, sit-ups, presses to handstand, pirouettes, flips, splits, and holds. Bike, run, swim, row, etc, hard and fast. Five or six days per week mix these elements in as many combinations and patterns as creativity will allow. Routine is the enemy. Keep workouts short and intense. Regularly learn and play new sports.

Monday WOD's at 6am, 11am, 530pm, 630pm.

July 6th - A special day indeed!

This particular post will be a personal one.  I was fortunate to meet a man named Cecil Johns (9/18/1964-7/6/2004) who showed me an example of "LIVING".  Truly living in each and every moment with each and every breath.  By some stroke of fortune, he took me under his wing and taught me how to reach beyond FEAR and pursue the passion that is in one's heart.

It has now been exactly 5 years since Cecil passed away and there is not a single day that goes by that I don't hear his words of wisdom.  I sometimes wonder why it is that he shared so much about health, fitness, training, and life with me, but then I realize that if he didn't, I wouldn't be able to share it with all of you.  I feel honored every day that I have the opportunity to pass along some of that knowledge at CrossFit and I pray that I help to inspire some of you the way that Cecil has inspired me.

Be Ready for Wheels of Steel WOD

The second and most important reason that this day is so special is that 18 years ago on July 6th, 1991, I married the woman that makes it all possible.  I could never have made the transition to becoming what I was suppose to do in life if she hadn't supported me.  I sometimes forget how much she truly has done to make this all possible.  Dawn, THANK YOU for believing in me and the pursuit of my passion and for all you have done to make the last 18 years worth fighting for, I love you!  THANK YOU for being a great wife and mother of my child.

Sunday - REST DAY

8 Counts = 10

Remember:  Since all the trainers will be at the CrossFit Games next weekend, we will be closed starting at noon on Thursday July 9th and re-open at 6am Monday July 13th.

FYI - We are planning on doing another ascent of Mt. Lassen under moonlight.  Let's try and surpass our numbers from last year (21 and a dog).  It is planned for Full-Moon on Wednesday night, August 5th.  It's a fairly mild hike and well worth the experience!

We celebrated Independence day with a Hero WOD(workouts that pay homage to fallen soldiers, police, and firefighters)

On paper, it doesn't seem too bad, but the quads beg-to-differ when you complete those backwards 400 meters!

Simply Stated....."This is why we are the greatest country in the world", but if we don't get our act together, that may change!

It's time to pull our head out of our asses and get to work.
Time to be responsible for our own actions.
Time for Men to be good fathers.
Time to Support our troops whether you think we should be there or not.
Time to lose your ego.
Time to help a neighbor.
Time to thank a cop or a firefighter for keeping us safe.
Time to thank a teacher for showing our kids how to clean up our mess.
Time to listen to the elderly; they have great wisdom.
Time to be responsible for our own health.
Time for our so-called leaders in government to re-read this document;
so we can all get started!!!

Comment with your opinion on what we should do to bring the
American spirit back to this country!

We did a little 1/2 Filthy on friday.
It is odd how reducing the number of reps can actually seem to
make a WOD more difficult!

Freedom has its life in the hearts, the actions, the spirit of men and so it must be daily earned and refreshed - or else like a flower cut from its life-giving roots, it will wither and die.

10rds of Fun right after 3x3 Jerks. CFR hasn't put any heavy weight over our heads in awhile. We saw lot of PR's broken. As we get stronger and more in-tune with our bodies a solid diet can make the difference between a PR and a miss.

Kevin, Cubby, Jordan, Captain and a few others headed into the mountains to do some Downhilling.   If you've never been to Downieville, Ca., then you need to get there.  Even if you don't ride a Mountain Bike, you should go check out this historic mountain town located in the Sierra Nevada's.  It's like a little slice of heaven.

Saturday
WOD 9a
Saturday Gym Hours 9a-12p
Box Jumps= 54

Kevin, Jordan and Cubby are taking a well deserved rest. A few days in Downieville will certainly clear their heads. Nothing like speeding down, jumping and dropping your mountain bike on sweet singletrack while negotiating a hundred foot cliff on either side to really relax a guy.
Well that's how a Crossfitter relaxes.

Everyone else is in for a treat. This guy will be teaching the classes
Justin
Thanks Justin for taking the next few days.
